• Letoile Cafe

It has been raining so often recently, almost daily. Miss A visited Singapore for a showcase a few days ago and even Suzy tweeted about the rain. She mentioned “It rains in Singapore.” in the first tweet, and ‘It is raining heavily in Singapore” in the second tweet attached with a picture.

With the heat gone, I do feel my skin complexion turning for the better. No pimples yay! At the same time, all I think about daily is to relax myself in a corner of a cafe, with a good book topped with sweet aroma of coffee. Singapore has so many new cafes popping up and I went to visit a few recently.

Letoile Cafe is indeed a delightful find. There are two levels to this cafe and ample of space. Most importantly, it is not located in a easily accessible location, so less crowd. The exterior design and structure of the cafe is a pretty and unique.

I was sitting in front of this french window overlooking the streets when it started raining. The atmosphere was so cozy and fuzzy that it gave me a vibe of being in Taiwan. There are books at the side if you’re bored and wants a good read. The sofa is so comfortable and perfect for a gossiping or chit chat session with friends over coffee.

And they have latte art! I love drawings on my coffee! Their latte art may not be the most impressive, but I’m impressed already.

If anyone is interested in the price at all, this is for you. I do find the price very reasonable given the atmosphere and taste. They serve all day breakfast too! For e.g Eggs Benedict. Awwww~ I wish I am in the cafe this very moment. This is by far my favourite cafe at the moment!

  • Qian Comes to Singapore!

My Taiwanese good friend, Qian came Singapore for a short visit in September last year. Yes, I know I am very slow in updating. To be honest, I have totally forgotten I have photographs from her trip in my computer. Kekekeke~

It was a very short meet up but a good one because I haven’t seen her since I last visited Taiwan, which is around 2 years ago! All these while, we could only rely on MSN to communicate, which by the way is terminating its services soon.

We brought Qian to enjoy the ever yummy chilli crab and claypot crab beehoon soup at Mellben Seafood.

The chilli crab sauce has so much egg in it and so yummy. Steamed buns is a must order dish so that we could dip them into the sauce. I’m already salivating looking at the photos. (Gulps)

I have no idea why this claypot crab beehoon soup is so yummy. But I can assure you that one bowl of soup is not enough. You keep asking for more! If the portion is not enough, you can always request to add soup for additional price!

Look at their happy faces before devouring the dish!

Yes, everyone hide behind me and make my face looks big. Humph~

Though we hardly meet but we have endless topics to talk about! Sincerely hope we could meet more often! Oh… That would imply me flying to Taiwan more often? Kekekeke~

  • Happy New Year!!!!!

Hello everyone in year 2013! It’s a brand new year, a brand new start! I’m getting hyped up because the year has started off so well and I hope it only gets better! (Greedy Mode) In the meantime, it’s us getting used to writing dates starting or ending with “13”! Heh~

The SMTown post I promised is finally here! It was such a tiring day but I enjoyed myself so much! The night before the concert, my friend and I actually went to peep at their rehearsal from the helix bridge. The concert organiser thought of it too so they actually put up nets to block the view from helix bridge. Luckily I brought binoculars! We saw f(x), EXO and SNSD rehearsed that night.

I arrived at the concert venue very early the next morning. We queued for SMTown Passport redemption and concert merchandise. The moshpit I was in did not need require queuing because very little tickets were released for my area.

The sun was too glaring and everyone had their umbrellas and fans out. We left the concert venue and found places to eat and chill after all the stuff we needed to get. The sky started turning very dark and rained heavily with thunder. I am so glad we were in the comfort of Starbucks when all that happened. I was already sick before I went for the concert, down with a heavy flu and fever. I needed all the rest I could get and caffein to perk me up.

Concert was scheduled to start at 6.30pm and we arrived at around 6.40pm. The sky heard our pleas and rain finally stopped. Our moshpit was so empty that I could easily stand first row if I wanted. We’d prefer running around the moshpit though, only squeezing to the front when there are artists we wanted to see.

Security on photo taking was exceptionally strict. I couldn’t capture a single photo throughout. At the same time, I have my eyes glued to the artists all the time! There were no cameras above our heads hindering our view. I do enjoy watching concerts like this!

I must flail at how up-close and personal we were with the artists. D.O from EXO-K was squatting down in front of me. The girls in front of me were screaming non stop because he was so closed that we could even shake hands. He didn’t shook our hands of course. But he heard the screams and turned, looked into our eyes, smile and wave at us. (Melts) I am not really a EXO fan, but I do like D.O and acknowledge his singing. I would say he’s my favorite out of the group. Kekekekeke~

Yesung, my bias if anyone of you doesn’t know yet, was standing in front of us singing. He could run around but he chose to stand in front of me and sang the remaining of the song. He bent very close to us, saw my fan board and smirked. This is the second time he looks at me directly, into my eyes!!!!! (Jelly Feet) During the final song HOPE where all of the artists came on stage, he threw a soft toy at me, makes sure I got it safely, smirked and left. (DEAD o<-<) How sweet can he get? (Sobs)

    종운오빠 넘 고마워요 ㅠㅠ

We only managed to take out our cameras to snap during the last song. Hence I got very limited photos and most of all, I was busy looking at Yesung with my eyes that I didn’t take a single photo of him.

Oh! I must share a side story! During the song Hope, Yesung wanted to drink from a bottle of mineral water. He happened to turn and saw Sooyoung from SNSD. With that mischievous look on his face, he motioned to spray it on Sooyoung. Sooyoung gave a very timid look and shake her head in fear. Yesung happily smirked and drank the water. Awwwwwwwwwww~~~~ CUTE MAX!!!!!!

    Okay, photos now…

I couldn’t remember what they saw. Someone must be threatening to spray water on Tiffany that she got so scared, clinging on to Kangta.

I’m sorry Kyuhyun… His derp face was too precious not to share XD

Okay okay let me give Kyuhyun back his justice. A photo of him biting his lips.

It started raining and thundering again during BoA’s “Only One” stage. Everyone was busy fishing out their raincoats and hardly had time to look at the performance when Sehun from EXO came out. Everyone I knew missed almost the entire Sehun dance, including me. 囧 The rain was so heavy that I think I would enjoy the water flow better than the shower hose in my house.

There’s something I must point out though. I wish the SNSD fan boys could bring raincoats instead of their umbrellas. They were tall enough blocking the view of people behind, and with their umbrellas, no one could see anything beyond them! Please be considerate!!!!!!!!!!

Donghae was wet from the rain. Look at those arms~ (Swoons) Yes I know there are people who wants to see Xiumin from EXO too! Here you go!

How happy was he looking at the fireworks? LOL!

And now, lets focus back on Super Junior! Sungminnie~

Sungminnie giving a pat on the back for Lay from EXO. He’s bending slightly to his sunbae!

    Awwwwwww~ Sungminnie

Sungminnie and Sunny looking at each other.

Eunhyuk pushing Kyuhyun down beside him and not allowing him up. Kyuhyun was pushed til his knees were bent. Kekekeke~

Eunhyuk’s almost 180 degrees bow. Awwww~ The group I idolize is so precious.

    Our Eunhyuk’s armpit ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

So many artists yet our boys are always the last on stage, giving their bows to their fans. They are forever so humble and thankful to ELF for their success. Loves max~ The final thumb kiss moments

We enjoyed ourselves so much during the concert!

    즐거운 시간을 보냈어요! 모든여러분 수고하셨습니다!!!!!!
    꼭 다시 오세요~

  • CSHH and Thieves Market

Singapore is always developing and evolving at such a high speed. There were times when I left Singapore for a 2 weeks vacation, returned surprised that I could hardly recognize some parts of Orchard Road. Old buildings scraped, making way for new buildings and businesses.

We heard Thieves Market at Sungei Road will be closing down soon. This flea market has been around since 1930s and will soon step into history. My friends and I decided to make a trip before it enter past tense phase.

Before we do that, of course we had to fill our stomachs first! It was my first time visiting Chye Seng Huat Hardware (CSHH). If it wasn’t for my friend, I wouldn’t have known such a place existed behind the big metal doors of the building.

Banana Cake tasted not bad, quite fluffy. Of course the quality can’t be compared to those of Paris Baguette.

My almond croissant was a bit too hard for my liking. I couldn’t cut my knife through it without threatening to shake and bring down the entire table. It was impossible to share this piece of croissant with my friends. Ended up I had to pick up the whole piece and bite. I’m not sure if this is the ideal taste they wanted their customers to have.

My friend’s espresso with milk tasted alright. At least better than my daily brew.

My daily brew is by far the most awful coffee I ever had, and I think it is way too overpriced for the quality. I did a search online and it seemed that everyone is complaining it is too sour for anyone’s liking. Okay probably not everyone but there’s a handful! Or maybe I simply don’t know how to appreciate (Shrugs). On a side note, the presentation of the drink is cute!

My friend ordered a ham omelette with mushrooms and it took more than half an hour to arrive. When we enquired why the omelette was taking so long, the staff simply replied “There is a lot of customers.” Seriously?

I’ll be frank here that I don’t think the entire CSHH is so big that we needed to wait more than half an hour for an omelette. How long do you need to whip up an omelette?! In addition, where’s the sympathetic apology we should be hearing due to the long wait? The staff doesn’t even bother to help check our order and expect us to continue waiting endlessly.

Only when we approached the second staff, we got an answer as to why the long wait. The staff had mixed up our orders. There! This is the reasonable explanation! I nearly dropped tears of comfort when I heard the second staff say “sorry” to us.

So no photos taken for the omelette. My friend was too hungry and we were in no mood to take photos anymore.

Both food and drink were acceptable in terms of taste, nothing fantastic. Service was awful. I’m not sure if I wanna give it another chance.

After this not-so-fantastic brunch we had, we headed off to Thieves Market under the glaring sun.

As it is a flea market, items were spread out on the floor without price tags. Feel free to look and touch the items. If you are interested, then ask the price. You can also try price slashing with the seller if you think prices are too high.

As you can see there were all kinds of items on sales. Watches, spectacles, soft toys, shoes… etc

The old phones we used to have before all the smart phone devices appeared. So nostalgic!

The kind of phone every household used to have. Now that everyone has at least a mobile phone, my house doesn’t even own house lines anymore.

We used to own one typewriter too! Mistakes were irreversible with typewriters. There used to be “pen erasers” used to “erase” the words we typed wrongly on paper. All the erasers do was to damage the surface of the paper so that words were illegible and we typed new words over it. Awwww~ Good old memories!

This friendly uncle was selling old graduation photographs of kindergarden kids.

My friend took the opportunity to ask more questions. It seemed like none of them was aware when exactly they would be ask to leave. They pass every single day as though it is going to be the last.

Ending the post with my favorite photo of the day.

An advice to the people who intend to visit the Thieves Market, please be careful of your personal belongings.  Do make a trip before this part of Singapore enters into history too!

  • 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken

I was craving badly for Korean fried chicken the other day and my friend brought me to this store: 4 Fingers. I was quite skeptical initially because Korean fried chicken is way too delicious and yummy, nothing like those you can find in Singapore.

I was delighted when I saw the interior of the store! I mean everyone thinks of KFC in Singapore when you talk about fried chicken right? Compare the interior design of this popular food chain and 4 Fingers. Weren’t you in for a surprise too?

After you placed your order at the counter and paid, this round device will be given to you. You can bring this to your seat and wait for your food to be prepared. Once the food is ready to be served, your device will vibrate and you can collect your food at the counter. This is exactly how most of the cafes and fastfood chains operate in Korea!

Anyway there is this message on the drink that politely ask customers to refrain from sharing the goodness of 4 Fingers. Oh… I simply couldn’t resist myself! Sorry 4 Fingers!

And the very yummy fried chicken arrived! We ordered mixture of spicy and non-spicy chicken and I couldn’t really differentiate them from the looks of it. Since both are equally delicious and I like them all, it is no problem for me!

On the overall, I was very satisfied with my meal and the service. Luckily my friend pulled me to the store once they were opened for business. As soon as the clock strikes 12pm on a weekday afternoon, there were long queues at the counter. Everyone please go try! Teehee~

  • Paris Baguette Cafe

I must begin my post with a scream! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

SMTown tickets are in! Woohooooooooo! Can you sense my exhilaration? I can’t wait for 23 November! (Calms self down)

My friend gave me a birthday treat at Paris Baguette a few days ago. Yes I am still celebrating my birthday after two months. I’m so loved! Kekekeke~

Speaking of Paris Baguette, I’ve been to the one in Korea, but haven’t tried it since it opened in Singapore. Paris Baguette in Korea is really good and cheap! Prices go a little steep in Singapore, but I can tell you it’s every bit worth the price.

For someone who doesn’t take strawberry flavored food, I was skeptical about this cake initially. Since my friend bought this for me, I must give it a try. I was glad I did! The cake is so fluffy and basically melts in your mouth. Most importantly, it doesn’t have the artificial strawberry taste.

And this chocolate danish is yums max too! Not too sweet and the crust is crispy.

I ordered one of their bestsellers off their all-day-breakfast menu. The wedges come with a very special sauce and I can’t really pinpoint the ingredients. I’m guessing they mix tobasco in the sauce. The wedges taste really potato-ish and the bread here is very soft.

My kiwi orange drink tasted perfect. The pulps of the kiwi just comes up whenever I take a sip. It neutralises the drink and it is so refreshing.

I went on a friday afternoon and the queue at the counter never stopped while I was there. I’m glad their business is surviving well. I must make another trip soon to try their croissant. I heard it’s even better than Tiong Bahru Bakery!

  • SMTown Singapore

After months and months of anticipation, SMTown is finally coming to Singapore on 23 November 2012. The third world tour and it is finally our turn. Y.E.A.H!

Luckily for me, I didn’t have to go through queuing at SISTIC counters or non-stop refreshing SISTIC website to get tickets online. I got my moshpit B ticket without sweat. Teehee~

It was so hard deciding which moshpit we wanted to be in. Seated tickets were not within our considerations because they were so far from the main stage. The concert venue is where Singapore holds its national day parade and this concert itself is selling 18,000 tickets in total. Go figure how big the venue is. It’s a must to be in the moshpit! It didn’t help when the concert organiser kept changing their seating plans, and added new seating to the very last minute.

Anyway all ends well. I’ve got the ticket I want. Now we’re just waiting for D-Day to arrive!

On a side note, I’m helping a korean friend change her moshpit A ticket to moshpit B. If there is anyone willing to trade, please drop me a note or email. Thanks!

  • BigBang Alive in Singapore

What happens after editing close to 100 photos for a concert? You dream of them.

I dreamt of BigBang’s concert and how difficult it was to get hold of their tickets. I was rushing out of my house earlier on and I now can’t remember much of the dream. Damn!

I only recall it was raining very heavily in my dream. Thankfully I was already owner of tickets in my dream. Yet I see people vying for the tickets desperately. I even see people gliding on the floor, in the rain, because of a ticket. Don’t ask me why he did that. I have seriously no idea! The dream took place in a neighborhood I have no recollection of visiting in reality. Yet this neighborhood keeps appearing in my dreams lately. >”<

To see and hear rain falling symbolizes forgiveness and grace. Falling rain is also a metaphor for tears, crying and sadness. If you get wet from the rain, then it indicates cleaning from your troubles and problems.

To dream that you are in a competition represents your need to grow and expand. Learn the value of endurance and perseverance. You also need to be more assertive. Alternatively, the dream may reflect your anxiety about some real life competition that you are involved in.

To dream that you are in an unknown neighborhood signifies aspects of your subconscious. The dream may also parallel a waking situation which is new or unfamiliar to you. You are venturing into a brand new territory and it is making you slightly anxious and uneasy.

The last dream interpretation is freaking true! I am weighing my options on my future and throwing in all possible outcomes. Perhaps I’ll share more when I have a decision made.

Speaking of BigBang, I went for their Alive concert on 29 September 2012 at Singapore Indoor Stadium. My first time watching BigBang live performance was during the F1 concert in year 2011. This Alive is a full concert and should not be missed!

I must warn you though, there is a whole load of photos coming up. On a side note, please do not edit or remove logo from my photos. Thanks!

The concert started and we were screaming like hell in there. Originally I was slightly worried about TOP and Seungri’s mood because the former hurt his hand, and the latter just got involved in a scandal prior to the concert. It turned out my worries were uncalled for!

It was so hard trying to take a good photo of GD because he was dancing non-stop! Using a normal digital camera and having to zoom in from far, I wanted to give myself a pat on the back for this good quality photo. XD

Like what’s a BigBang concert without Taeyang stripping and showing off his masculine body right? My friend who attended concerts for both 28th and 29th September, mentioned Taeyang stripped more times during the 29th day. I must say our screaming worked. ㅋㅋㅋ

Daesung’s solo where he appeared with large wings and “flying” across the stadium. His vocal is so stable and strong, and his smile is bright like sunshine.

Compared to GD, Top is so much easier to capture on camera. He stood around a lot and observed the crowd with his hawk-liked-eyes. As the concert progress, I noticed he started to let himself loose gradually. Let the photos do the words.

There! Another segment already and Taeyang appeared with clothes originally. The lines on that back looking good. Heh~

I really like Seungri a lot. Though he’s the maknae of the group, he looks so wise for his age. So many times I looked at him and wonder what’s running in his head.

Everyone please give him a break from the scandal. I am glad his scandal is with a female! It only implies his sexual interest is normal. This is much better than having a scandal with a male right? Not that I think anything is wrong with it. Don’t get me wrong. Knowing he likes female only give me and other fangirls more room to fantasize about ourselves. (Giggles)

I’m not trying to be rude, but most of the times Daesung appeared on my camera without eyes opened. I find his small eyes cute though! I like people with single eyelids. Think Yesung from Super Junior, Dujun from Beast! And of course Seungri from BigBang!

Gummy smile Seungri capturing Daesung on Samsung S3 phone.

Someone threw a mask onto the stage and GD picked it up. Yups that’s GD alright. I was surprised he even rapped through the mask. LOL~

Fan event for BigBang and Seungri was so sweet to pick it up. Yes, thank you BigBang for the awesome night. I have no idea what GD was doing back there! Towards the end of the concert they were exhausted and were lying everywhere on the stage!

Here is Daesung’s failed attempt to cool the fans using his drinking water. It only make fangirls more excited!

TOP just got up from lying on the floor so his hood was up. Cute!

TOP suddenly picked up this red horn hairband and was struggling to put it on with his “crippled” right hand. Another member came over and helped him with it and he was so happy. Cute MAX!

The concert ended with a blast and me with sore throat from all the screaming. I was having regrets that I didn’t get the ticket for day 1 as well. Well, I guess regrets only contribute to future opportunities! BigBang please come Singapore again!!!

  • Tiong Bahru Bakery

I finally escaped out from home to meet up with friend today. The past few weeks was like cold turkey to curb my shopping addiction and bad habit of dining at restaurants. The moment I unleash, I’m back to leading a tai-tai life. (Facepalm)

After lunch at Sushi Express, my friend and I headed for the newly opened Tiong Bahru Bakery located at basement of Raffles City.

This cute menu greeted us at the door. Milk, foam, coffee and expresso shots all illustrated. I ordered a cup of Magic (which is coffee with milk) and a croissant.

How many cafes in Singapore actually do latte art? I don’t really come across them a lot, so I’m impressed with my cup of coffee!  The croissant is really very good, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Even though I ate at such a slow pace and the croissant was turning cold towards the end, I’m still satisfied to the very last bite of it.

There are so much bread, tart and sandwich choices to choose from at the counter. I can’t wait to visit again!

  • Weekend Staycation

Val and I came across a good groupon deal some months back
We paid $288 in total for an executive hotel room, 1hr massage, and a bottle of wine
Since both of us are September babies
We thought we’d just take the chance to relax our mind, body and soul
    Teehee!

The long awaited weekend finally came!
We were pleased with our room!
Wish the bed could be bigger though, to fit 4 of us XD

    The bathroom is quite big
It has a shower area and a bathtub!
Too bad I didn’t get a chance to use the bathtub
Very satisfied with the room on the overall~

After our massage and checking in, we left for dinner at Mariners’ Corner Restaurant!
Such a quiet and cozy place, with yummy food!
The best part, it was within walking distance from the hotel~

I was trying to take selca with Meijun
Ended up Shan took the camera over and snap it for us
    Hee~

Meijun is such a good target to tease!
She looked at this photo and commented I look slimmer with the camera angle
I replied perhaps I am slim myself and it’s not the camera angle that makes me look so
I could see her eyeballs moving left and right, trying to find words to appease me
    Joking please! LOL!!!!!!

Val was so sweet to come up with so much props for photo taking!
    We had so much fun~

I have no idea why I keep looking very weird with these same props
So I am not sharing my photos of the props above
    Kekekeke~

The glasses remind me of WHY Style and my Yesung oppa XD
I like the ashy colour of my hair in the photo!!!
How can I get this colour in real life without colour filter? >.<

Yes, we found a good spot to take photos
    The bathroom!!!! XD
    The lighting is perfect~

Caught in action sitting on the toilet bowl
    Kekekekekekekeke~

    Chu~~~~~~~

The sherlock set is damn cute!!!!!
    And watermelon bow tie~

    VAL Style glasses~
    Heh!
Shan totally looks like a Pororo there
Or is that a green hornet? XD

No matter how many birthdays we had, we’d still be Forever Young!!!!!!

We went for a swim early morning the next day and checked out of the hotel at noon
Chanced upon pretty buildings while we were on a quest for yummy brunch

    Finally reached the Group Therapy!
    Loving the post box~

The cute signage along the staircase hallway
I only wanted an icy cold drink under the hot weather that day
But I tried their Ice Mocha that Val and Shan ordered
It was soooooooooooooooo rich and good!

    My BLT brunch!
    Sumptuous and yummy!!!!!!
Even the salad tasted splendid with the sesame dressing~

Everyone was super sleepy after the brunch
We stayed up late playing cards games like Uno, Monopoly Deal, Mahjong the night before
It was all showing on our faces
    LOL~

Definitely looking forward to the next staycation with the girls
