• Kuala Lumpur Mayday Concert “No-Where”

This is another outdated post. (Coughs) I went Malaysia Kuala Lumpur in March with some friends to catch Mayday’s concert “No-Where”. Despite the close proximity my house is to the causeway linking to Malaysia, I don’t travel there often. I kinda miss the days I used to travel to Johor Bahru just for cheap and good massage. Needless to say Kuala Lumpur, where it’s further deep in Malaysia. Since it’s been some time since I last visit Kuala Lumpur, naturally I was looking forward to the trip.

The check in counter staff was weird. My friend and I checked in together and the staff even asked whether either of us wanted aisle seat. My friend wanted aisle seat and I had no preference. When I got the tickets, I got a surprise. My friend did get an aisle seat, and me a middle seat. But we were seated on different sides of the air craft. It’s not like the counter staff was trying to give us an entire row to ourselves. I had different people sitting on my left and right side on board the air craft.  Thankfully a guy was kind enough to exchange seats with us, so we get to sit together.

The most important item to bring on the trip: entrance ticket! The first thing I boarded the flight was to ask whether my friend brought the tickets. Not that there’s anything I could do by the time we were on the flight to realize tickets were not with us. LOL~

It was my friend’s birthday! We arrived at the hotel to sing happy birthday song and ate cake. Such a coincidence to be having birthday on the day of concert. Heh~

The rest of us on the trip. On board a cab towards venue for lunch!

Somehow we managed to stand second row in the mosh pit. It was so upclose and personal. So many times the members came over to smile at us, recognizing we were from Singapore. The last two photos in the concert venue was taken using my mobile phone. I didn’t bring my camera in and I could even capture Monster looking at my me. (Melts)

Next day was Old Town White Coffee prawn mee and coffee for our first meal. I am missing the taste of this prawn mee already! It tastes way better than what I have in Singapore!

Then it was my favorite Krispy Kreme before we head to the airport for home. Late last year there was news of Krispy Kreme coming to Singapore but why is it not here yet? Where art thou Krispy Kreme~~~~~

Soon it is Singapore’s turn for Mayday World Tour of “No-Where”. I’ve bought my tickets. How about you?

  • Everland in Korea II

I’m determined to bring account of Everland trip to an end today so be prepared for photobomb! Heh~ Continued this post from here.

After lunch, I wanted to wash my hands and found the basin so cute! Duckie~

Then there were even more animals to see.

The sea lions were so clever! See the one above standing! Cute! And the show was such a cooling escapade from the hot summer because the venue is air-conditioned.

We ventured outdoors bravely once again and this picture with monkey king (?) is like a prelude of the many monkeys we gonna be seeing.

And there’s even sea animals like penguins and polar bears.

I was chasing this duck around trying to take a good picture of it but it just kept running. I can’t believe I was playing “Catching” game with this duck! So funny XD

Flamingo! So graceful in its own ways.

There was a crowd surrounding this cutie little thing because he kept fishing into the air with its hands, as though looking for something. Oh I just realized it has crescent shaped eyes!

Hedwig! Have you landed in Korea? Where is your master Harry Potter?

Awwww~ She’s looking at me with her arms crossed! Such a graceful baby!

Here comes the most exciting ride in Everland! Entire roller coaster made of wood including the tracks. This is the 90 degrees drop! There is no safety harness, just a safety seat belt at the waist. The crew was guiding us to do some stretching exercises before the ride to refrain from getting hurt during the ride. I was so nervous before taking this ride, but once I started I couldn’t stop! I went for it twice and still wanted more. This is truly addictive! Everyone please go and try!

My favourite snack, churros, to reward myself after the exhilarating rides. Why can’t I find them readily available in Singapore? Sobs… I was just talking to a Korean on Instagram the other day and she was sharing with me a place that serves good churros in Seoul! I must go try soon! (Nods Head)

Can you spot the roller coaster ride behind me? (Eyes Glittering)

As it’s the rose festival, there were so much flowers everywhere!

Probably because of rose festival, it’s supposed to be romantic. So there were a lot of heart decorations around too. I started off being excited and took as many photos as I could. Gradually… … I got sick of it because I’m always alone. Sobs…

See! Even the chair looks empty with me sitting on it alone. I gave up trying to take pictures with hearts after this. #ForeverAlone

Yes, giraffe reminds me of Ryeowook again. There is a ferris wheel in the background that I didn’t get to sit in. Prolly next time…

The sky started to darken and it was time to leave Everland. I want to come again!

Ending the day with Korean BBQ and Makkoli (Korean rice wine) when we returned to Myeongdong. I hope you’re reading this post at night. This way we can get hungry together and grow fat together at night. (Munches snacks)

Okay… I shall not be mean. Ending this post with the cute fennec fox instead. I took so many pictures of them! I’m not kidding when I said I really want to bring one home as a pet!

    Good night!

  • Everland in Korea

I haven’t been blogging for quite some time, I’m sorry folks. It has been a hectic past few weeks for me. When I’m not busy, I’m just lying around the house staring into blank space. I’ve been trying hard to adopt back a healthy lifestyle.

I conclude that I’m unsuccessful. Well, at least I tried. (Falls back into couch)

In order to make up for my long lost absence, I’m here to fill the space with my trip to Everland in Korea! I hope the pictures will make this post look long. Heh~

It was my first time to Everland and I did some research on directions. I even found different buses taking off from different subway stations that arrive at the same destination. When we arrived at Gangnam Station (Seoul Subway Line 2) exit 10 to take bus, the bus stop with bus 5002 is nowhere to be seen no matter how hard we looked. We asked around and people all pointed to the same direction. Yet, we were still so lost. Until we saw bus 5002 itself not stopping by the road side, but in the middle of the road. We didn’t notice there was another bus stop in the middle of the road. Hahahahaha~ Anyway we managed to run after the bus and boarded.

The travelling time from Gangnam Station is around 50minutes. The bus I got on was so packed and we stood all the way for the entire journey. I was still pining hope on napping on the bus. (Sobs)

Anyway, we finally arrived at Everland after the long and tedious bus ride. Yay!

My entrance ticket with manicured nails. So loving the pink leopard print french tip nails. Teehee! We bought the ticket at $32,000Won after a tourist discount. This is almost half the price for Singapore’s Universal Studio entrance fee. Cheap!

We were in time for the Rose Festival!

There were even rose balls (?) hanging from the trees. LOL!

The castle like buildings were pretty. It may not seem so, but the sun was super glaring.

And here comes my first ride of the day! I didn’t know why I ran into a panic attack when I was queuing for this. I guess I need to warm myself up for rides. It turned out to be a really safe and fun ride. A lot of variety shows were filming on this ride. Do give it a try! It just makes you dizzy. XD

This viking in Korea is the most exciting I’ve tried by far! I’ve only tried viking in Singapore, Malaysia and Korea though. This goes up to almost 90 degrees. I giggled so much because of the kids on the same ride who were screaming their heads off.

Pororo and friends! I think this 3D show is more for kids so I didn’t go in. I thought if we had time, we could always come back. Ended up we were so thrilled with the rides deep in the park that I forgot all about this. I can always come back though… Heh!

    With Pororo and Petty!

Everland is like a zoo and theme park all in one. We decided to take it easy and visit all the animals first.

I couldn’t take pictures with those live animals, so I decided to stick to fake ones.

Nowadays whenever I see giraffes, I think of Ryeowook!

The vehicle is cute alright. But the seat was super hot under the scorching sun. Believe me, my smile stiffened the moment I put my ass on that chair. The zebra driver looks like he’s saying “출발!” (Let’s Go).  LOL!

After a fulfilling lunch under the non air-conditioned canteen, we moved on to see the one and only Liger! He’s the baby of a Lion and Tiger! Cool right!

Look out of our bus window and there’s a bear walking past!

And he looked so poised scratching his back against the tree.

I was contemplating whether to buy this hairband because it’s tooooooo cute! I totally regretted not buying it. Though I have no idea when I could use this if I had really bought it. Ha!

Everland is so so big and I took a lot of pictures. Sharing the rest another day. Ending this post tonight with this picture of too gorgeous and fluffy cute fennec fox sleeping. Don’t you wish you could bring one home and snuggle against it? Awwwwww~~~

    Good night!

  • Ewha Womans University

My trips to Korea mostly includes food, sight-seeing and most importantly shopping. When we speak of shopping, a place not to be missed is definitely Ewha Womans University (이대). The streets just outside this university is bustling with people and I could spend hours combing this place. If you’re taking subway, the stop to alight at is “Ewha Womans University” itself, exit 3.

During my last trip, I went for a haircut and dye. You wouldn’t believe how awful the shape of my hair was in. So many times I suddenly realize I was holding on to the scissors, ready to snap off my hair because it was too irritating. Most of the times I was able to regain my senses in time and put down the scissors to stop myself from cutting and ruining my own fringe further. Yes, I mean ruining further. I didn’t manage to stop myself a couple of times. ㅠㅠ

The moment I arrived at 이대, you were expecting me to charge to the hair salon? Nahhhhhhh~ I must satisfy tummy first. Studies have shown people are more stupid if they do not consume breakfast. Everyone, please eat your breakfast daily!

Breakfast was at Hollys Coffee! Someone recommended the breakfast and said it is something we’d regret if we didn’t try.

This is breakfast for two, I was sharing with my friend. If you ask me, I think sandwiches are alright but nothing fantastic. Drink wise, I find the ice chocolate too sweet. But then again, it would taste awful if chocolate drink is not sweet right? In summary, I am just not an ice chocolate drink person. (Shrugs) Of course you would probably love it if you have a sweet tooth.

After breakfast, I did charge with full speed to the hair salon.

Drinks and snacks while I enjoy the haircut services. The hairdressers were so hip! They used an iPad to display hairstyles and communicate with clients. After our communication, they even asked if I wanted to use the iPad to pass time. It is no longer holding big bulky female magazines!

New hairstyle, new colour! I do find my hair more obedient when I was in Korea. The moment I stepped back into land of Singapore, it wouldn’t stay like this anymore. (Wails) I blame it on the humidity level in Singapore.

With the new hairstyle, it is time to explore the campus of Ewha Womans University!

Despite the pretty campus, I just had to put myself into the picture to ruin it. XD

The sun was setting when I took a tour around the campus. You can see the sunlight glittering on the leaves. Such a beautiful sight~

    Mysterious staircase leading to…?

The campus looks so different in summer, as compared to my last visit in winter. I did walk quite deep into the school and felt so surreal. Though it’s a female university, I do see quite a number of males there. Picking their girlfriends up? So those guys you see there are probably taken?

Anyway, I guess it’s free for anyone to visit and take a walk around the school. Do make your way into the school if you are in the area for shopping or meals!

  • Kuala Lumpur Trip

I haven’t been updating for such a long time! Time flies and the past month has been so hectic and busy. SMTown came to Singapore and thereafter, I went Kuala Lumpur to attend a wedding of a very good friend. I’ll blog about SMTown separately, so stay tuned!

I was quite ill when I made the trip to Malaysia to attend the wedding. Flu and fever doesn’t go well together for a trip. I haven’t seen the folks I was going with for some years. Despite all these, the trip turned out so well and I made new friends!

    The sweet newly weds~
It was so hard getting the groom to drink alcohol! In the end we prevailed! Muahahaha~

With ever so sweet Ivan~ ^^

I think I drank like 2 cups of red wine at the dinner. My eyes could hardly open when we left at 11pm. The night was still young so we decided to go clubbing!

The Long Island Tea was tooooo big a glass. The DJ was great! I vomited twice before taking this picture and another time after taking this picture. I simply couldn’t take in any supper! LOL~ So I left the peeps and went back to my room to shower and pack for leaving the next day. The effect of too much alcohol when my body is not in good condition.

The next morning at breakfast table. Refreshed once again!

We took a shot at the hotel we were supposed to stay in initially. Sigh~ Next time, we shall not take the heed of someone’s advice. The room we ended up in was like a jail ㅠㅠ Thankfully we had very little time of stay in the accommodation.

A group shot before we left Malaysia truly Asia~

Cam whoring on the bus… Heh!

It was so good seeing the folks again. Feeling so loved from the friends~

In a blink of eye, 2012 is coming to an end. Wondering if I should do a summary of 2012 and wishes for 2013. Anyway, Happy New Year everyone! Hope your 2013 will be better than 2012! ^^

  • S.M Entertainment

It is now customary that I will pay S.M Entertainment at least one visit, every time I visit Seoul. The surprises you get of not knowing who you will meet there is exhilarating. Like I mentioned earlier, artists I’ve met so far include Girls Generation (SooYoung Yoona Sunny Jessica Hyoyeon Taeyeon…etc) and DBSK (Yunho).

Today, I’m going to share on how to go to S.M Entertainment! Before you rejoice, I must first warn you how far the building is from the subway station. My pictures are all screenshots using Google Map so no complaints on the quality of the pictures please.

Take subway line 3 and alight at Apgujeong Station, exit 2. Turn and walk in the opposite direction of the exit. Turn right around KEB Private Bank.

From here onwards, it is endless walking straight. The following are some shops you will pass by.

Continue walking straight and you will see a big cross-intersection. Cross the road and you will reach a gas station S-OIL.

    Continue walking straight.

Keep walking until you see The Galleria. Cross the road to The Galleria and continue walking in the same direction you were walking in.

You will pass by Louis Vuitton. Cross the road and keep walking straight.

Continue walking straight until you see the S.M Entertainment building!

The middle panel was renovated and newly added words “SMTown”. It lits up at night and this is how it looks like.

Hope this guide is useful in helping you reach S.M Entertainment and meet dazzling world stars!

If you happen to see any artists, please don’t take photographs, scream or cause any inconvenience to them. I can’t guarantee you won’t be chased away by the ahjussi security.

  • Jeju Island: Maze Land

In Jeju, there are various mazes such as Mirror Maze, Gimnyeong Maze Park, Maze Land. It took us some time to decide which one we wanted to go. A concern we had is the very limited time in Jeju Island we had, 2D1N to be exact. What if we got stuck in the maze for 6hours? We might have to forgo a tourist spot because of this. We then assured ourselves this wouldn’t happen due to our high IQ. LOL~

We then decided on Gimnyeong Maze Park (김녕미로공원) because there are platforms in the middle of the maze where you can climb up to take photos. To add on, the maze is in the shape of the Jeju Island!

Though we did well self-assuring, when the driver said to wait outside the maze for 1.5hours, we looked at each other and gulped. We ourselves were not convinced and didn’t really know what to expect.

We paid for the entrance fee and was given a map of the maze. The entrance sign welcomes us!

The maze was built in such a way that you can’t cheat by looking over or through the hedges.  I must admit it was a bit overwhelming initially because I felt lost. We decided not to rely on the map at all because it takes away the fun.

Things started to get interesting with the things we see. We managed to walk under a platform and a sign here wrote do not kiss in caps with exclamation mark. How cute is that!

In one of the dead ends, there is another sign in Korean 뽀뽀금지 meaning kissing forbidden. ㅋㅋㅋ

In another corner, a fake skeleton piece to scare the hell outta you. I think it would be so exciting to spend Halloween in a maze! Why do we not have mazes in Singapore?

We found one of the platforms and decided to take pictures like this. You wouldn’t know how hard these pictures came about. The photographer has to stay on the platform and shout out to me which corner to turn in order to capture an angle with me in it.

We found the right platform of the maze! There is a bell at the top of the platform where you can ring it to celebrate the moment. Ding Ding Ding Ding~~~~~

Look at the maze behind me! We conquered it! Heh~

On our way out, I was so delighted to find a post box. But I don’t think its functional so don’t drop any postcards or letters in there!

There are some topiary to be seen at the exit of the maze. Call me ignorant, but I’ve never seen so cute and pretty topiary in my life.

We ended the maze in less than 1.5hours. According to Korea Tourism Board, a rough estimation they indicated to complete the maze is half an hour. We spent a lot of time taking pictures, going back into the maze to take more pictures. We even ate corn dogs at the exit. So it kinda explains why we took such a long time to complete the maze. On the overall, the maze is really easy. We didn’t even utilise the maps to navigate. I guess I will probably explore Maze Land next, and it seems more challenging.

    Gimnyeong Maze Park

  • Jeju Island Adventure Continues…

It was such a fine day for our second day at Jeju Island. Thankfully there was no rain! We visited outdoor trick art museum and got another shade darker >.<

I was trying to mimic the monkeys but failed… LOL

Loving the colorful zebras! Normal zebras are black with white stripes. So these zebras are actually rainbow colored with white stripes? SUPER LIKE!

I can’t imagine how dwarfy I look next to giraffes. I have been changing my views on giraffes since Ryeowook’s love. Heh~

This marks the end of my trick art museum tour!

If you ask me, I’d say indoor is so much more fun. But outdoor has life size animal figurines you can hug and take pictures with. Indoor would take a few hours to take pictures with each and every art piece, outdoor would probably only require around 15minutes to navigate.

There wasn’t much people out there venturing in the open area. After all, the main highlight is still the indoor trick art museum. Still, I had so much fun!

Next up, 성산일출봉 Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak!
It is also called the Sunrise Peak, but the hotel staff had advised us not visit in the morning because the sky that day was gloomy and probably couldn’t see sunrise. Hence we planned for the visit in the afternoon instead.

View from afar and we gonna conquer this! I did a research prior to this and it’s said that it’d only require around half and hour to climb up and another half hour to get back down.

We barely started ㅋㅋㅋㅋ A coke is much needed to give us energy along the way!

Nearly reached the top and landscape sight was already so pretty!!! You can see the settlement of Jeju Island from here.

There we are at the altitude of 180m! Conquered!!!!!!

We were just wandering around the top and saw a speed boat zoomed past. Look at the pretty horizon!

Being surrounded by high rise buildings for so many years, I am loving this view. I just stood there and embraced the wind, took in deep breathes and felt very contended.

The cliff of Seongsan Ilchulbong is one of the places where sea women dive in without oxygen tanks to gather abalones.

I had to take a picture here because this is one of the scenes from “Queen In Hyun’s Man” drama. Kim Boong Do in the drama woke up in Jeju Island penniless and stole a bag from a tourist here. ㅋㅋㅋ

The afternoon was too hot and got myself a melon ice-cream to ward off the heat!

We took slightly longer than 1hr for the entire trail because we were too engrossed taking pictures. Towards the very end of the trail, it was quite steep and steps were slightly bigger. At some point in time, there is a “single lane” for those climbing up and coming down. And it kinda get on my nerves when tourists from a certain country was wearing very high heels, clad in long skirts, holding on to a lacy umbrella, complaining about the height of the stairs and refuse to budge.

I’d probably come again to see the sunrise. It’s such a pity that I’m always missing out on the sunrise! I still remember I took an hour train to Fu Long Beach from Taipei at 1am to catch the first sunrise in year 2010. It was freezing cold by the beach and I wasn’t fully clothed for the temperature. To add it up, I just had a full day activity and was dead tired. The sky only gradually turned bright behind the clouds. My saddened sunrise encounters… 엉엉~ ㅠㅠ I must come Seongsan Ilchulbong again! (Clench fist

We didn’t end that afternoon with Seongsan Ilchulbong though. Next destination: Maze Land!

  • Jeju Island Day 2

I guess I’m highly motivated to blog these two days
You didn’t wait too long for day 2 entry right?
I hope these blogging worms squirming in me will keep up
This way I can get Jeju Island blogs out of my system soon!

    Day 2 started off well
With the help of hotel staff, we got ourselves a driver to bring us around the whole day
Though it was slightly expensive, it was definitely a better deal compared to flagging cabs everywhere we go

Very bloated face the next morning
Note to self not to eat ramyeon before sleep again

We looked out the window and voila!
    Such a beautiful sight
    Lighthouse, sea and cloudy sky
    The day just got better!

Nice driver offered to take a photo for us
See! The strong wind blows whenever I tried to take photo!
    I can’t really complain though
It was very cooling despite the glaring sun
Again, we could hardly open our eyes *v*

Our first destination of the day!
    Trick Art Museum! 트릭아트 박물관!
Don’t you love the blue blue sky with white clouds scattered across it! ☁

We started off with the indoor museum area
I was the one holding my own clothes actually
That’s the beauty of trick art museum isn’t it!
Your eyes play tricks on you XD
The photo was a little blur because I was tip toeing to get to the angle
    Disadvantages of being short
    Booo~

Alright there really wasn’t any trick to this picture
I was really sitting on the sledge
I’m just sharing this photo because it makes me look slim and I feel like Miss Korea
    LOL

Another photo featuring SNSD legs! ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Please ignore how dirty the mirror was
The kids were plastered to the mirror before we came XD

I was contemplating whether to enlarge this photo for sharing
But due to the dim lighting, the photo gets very pixelated and blur
So please make do with this low quality small photo instead
    )=

    This photo is so cute!
I was actually sitting on the spoon of the kitty
And the big round thing was it’s plate
Yeah and this photo is cute because I was acting cute XD

In order to get the right angle for these photos, the photographer has to climb stairs
    That is very tiring!!!!! XD
But the drawings on the floor look so 3D!

Next up entry, outdoor Trick Art Museum!!!

Progress is slow for a reason
Every entry I made, every photo I share, is like going through the entire trip for me again
I savor every moment of it
    Hope you enjoy it too!

  • Jeju Island Continued…

It’s been some time since I wrote on my last Korea trip
    Hey~ Don’t judge me!
I skipped to Seoul part to churn up an article on Korean Ginseng Chicken
I was craving so badly for it and decided to write about that first

Looking at my speed, I need at least a third blog entry to complete my Jeju Island adventures
Or even a fourth entry is possible
    Hee~

See how they tried to earn my money at Teddy Bear Museum
    This is soooo cute~!
I was contemplating whether I should bring one home and add to my overcrowded bed
I didn’t in the end ㅠㅠ

Wow you can see how my dark hair grows out from this photo
The black and brown is in so much contrast
Note to self to dye my hair when I reached Seoul!

This looks like a family photo isn’t it!
Papa bear, why didn’t you look at the camera >.<
These bears mark the end of the indoor Teddy Bear Museum
Now to embrace the rain and go outdoors!!!

This photo was taken from so far away, we couldn’t hear each other shout “1, 2, 3”
I hope these bears caught fish
    ㅋㅋㅋ

We went GS25 looking for drinks after the museum tour
I had to get this drink because of cute GD
I still recalled I brought this orange flavored carbonated drink all the way back home in my Nov trip last year

I bought a postcard to write to myself from Teddy Bear Museum
Luckily we found a post office in Jeju Island
I could send myself a different postcard from Seoul
    Heh~

The Jeju Island mascot is like everywhere, in different sizes
We were initially worried we couldn’t find one to take pictures with
Turned out there were simply toooooo many
    LOL

    Totally love this picture!
Look at our SNSD legs XD

We walked past Lotte Hotel again and decided to go in have a look
There were these big big banners above our heads
    Super Junior!!!!!

Another Jeju Island mascot located in Lotte Hotel premises
The sun was starting to set and I could hardly open my eyes
    ~_~

Off to look for Cheonjeyeon Falls
It wasn’t too hard navigating from our hotel

You probably can’t see from this angle
The red colour bridge has a lot of deity looking drawings on it
The vast sky looks like it can go on forever
    Like Like Like!

    Myself on the bridge
And the wind forever blows whenever I’m trying to take a photo
Big fat face without hair to conceal )=

    There!
    The magnificent Cheonjeyeon Falls!
I can’t really express how pretty and surreal this place is
You just have to see and experience with your own eyes

This marks the end of day 1!
Ok I think I was wrong previously
I need at least another 3 blog entries to round up my entire Jeju Island trip!

    Stay tuned folks~
